Pre and postnatal Kundalini Yoga classes

Embarazo

Kundalini Yoga, the so-called yoga of consciousness, is a technology that can be practiced by people of any age and it does not require previous expertise. It has many benefits that can be summarised in delivering a deep sense of wellness.

Its practice is highly recommended during pregnancy since it helps the mum-to- be to experience a conscious pregnancy. In addition, it also helps you:

  • Taking care of your body so that you enjoy your pregnancy more and better
  • Stay meditative and calm, lifting herself and the baby
  • Develop flexibility that you will need in childbirth
  • Prepare your body and mind for childbirth
  • And also for the later stage, motherhood

The exercise that is carried out with this practice causes the body to reduce stress and acidity. At the same time, it increases joy and relaxation. The practice of Kundalini Yoga connects you with your true self and makes it easier for you to flow.

This technology is called the yoga of awareness, and therefore practicing it increases your awareness and self-awareness. And it allows, thanks to meditation, to release wounds from the past.

The hormonal changes that occur in the body of the pregnant woman open the doors of the subconscious mind. Therefore, the pregnant woman dreams more vividly. You enter the realm of new feelings and thoughts and can review or question everything. Meditation can help dissolve confusing thoughts.

By having the second chakra more active, the pregnant woman has greater perception and greater mood swings in emotions. The practice of Kundalini Yoga helps you stabilize mood swings.

Class format

Kundalini Yoga classes for pregnant women maintain the same structure and duration as a normal class: they include warm-up, pranayama (breathing), kriyas (sequences of asanas or postures), relaxation, and meditation. However, specific kriyas are performed for pregnant women or adapted to them. Always in a safe environment, which benefits both the mum-to-be and the child she carries in her womb.

Postpartum, 4th trimester

Pregnancy spans three trimesters, and the fourth trimester is three months after delivery. It is advisable to resume the practice of Kundalini Yoga after childbirth once the fourth trimester is over. From one week after the delivery -if it has been vaginal and without complications-, until the fourth trimester is over, the woman can progressively practice exercises at home to recover the pelvic floor, release tension, and recover abdominal strength. But without rushing, and at your own pace. After three months after the delivery, then it is advisable that you attend specific postpartum classes and you can attend with your baby.

Postnatal yoga class format

Postpartum Kundalini Yoga classes with babies have a structure similar to that of a normal class, but their duration is shorter to adapt them to the needs of the baby. In addition to performing kriyas, which help the mother’s physical recovery, the classes include massages for babies.
